Car sometimes makes noise when shifting gears

Mitsubishi eclipse 1999 114000 dohc 2.0 non turbo (manual 5 gears)
the car sometimes makes grinding noise when I shift gears and sometimes will not shift all the way thru and I have to retry. Also sometimes at freeway speeds I couldnt downshift from 5 to 4th gear. Im sensing a part is worn out.

Sounds like it may be time for a trans rebuild. Could have syncros that are worn causing the hard shifting and lack of ability to downshift
