Hello! I read a bunch of post kind of like this but not similar. So sorry if there it a problem just like mine. But I couldnt find one

i drive a 2001 Mitshubishi Mirage.

A couple months ago, when I would first start it up being cold, the car would sputter or feel like it was about to die, but then the car would "hit the gas" on its own and rev up and then it would be fine.I was going to have it looked at, but then it stopped for a month. Now it has come back but worse. Now when it starts up, it runs for 1-2secs and then dies. And then I have to turn the key again and then it runs fine. Any sugguestions?

I would first start by cleaning the throttle body and removing the carbon. Sounds like its gummed up or you have a lazy idle air control valve. There are several other possibilities but we will start with the most obvious. To verify that its a dirty throttle body or idle air control valve you can try starting the car with your foot on the gas a little bit, if it starts right up then were on the right track. These engines are also known for carbon build up on the valves causing this kind of condition. Get back to us.
