1997 Other Mitsubishi Models Car Stalling-Losing Power

My 97 mitsubishi mirage has been in the shop for 6 days. She starts, idles, but when put into gear stalls/chokes.
weve replaced just about every part and checked all. Spark plugs and the usual, O2 sensor. New distributor, took out catalytic convertor, vacuum hoses checked. Etc. Computer says car is running fine. The shop is going to give up on it and I need some ideas for him. He said any are welcome. Hes stuck and hes been a great mechanic for almost 40 years. And I realllly need my car back. Any ideas?

Does your mechanic own a Modis or similar device? You should get error codes right before it stops running, if he does not thank him for his time and look for a shop with more advanced diagnostic tools
