I'm a big fan of the Michelin PS2 tires. The OEM tire size for my car is 235/45/18.

The PS2s don't come in that size. They do, however, come in 235/40/18, a slightly wider tire.

The tire store says they'll fit on my car.

Just wondering what the down side is to getting tires that don't exactly match the OE recommendation for my car.

For sure more resistance, possibly harder steering, and a difference in ride quality (which could be better).

I guess larger, wider tires hydroplane easier and have some other downsides, but #1 is having our cars look good.
