Ok so im supposed to be under 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty through mitsubishi but they say that the clutch is only covered in the first year. I dont understand how it can be called bumper to bumper except this and that. My car was smelling funnny and the rpms were way too high then the clutch gave way and felt really soft and the car wouldnt power itself. The engine was running but no matter what gear I threw it in it didnt matter. The tow guy said it is probably the clutch. How much would I be expecting to pay through dealership, or how much if I tried to buy the parts and do it myself.

When it comes to warranties, clutch's are like brake pads, they are considered wearing items. Your mileage is far too soon to need one, has the car been driven a little rough. Lol. Has it been stop and go or freeway miles? Any mods to the vehicle or engine? Sometimes you can plead your case and if the service manager is feeling nice they will warranty them, but not too often. The labor guide shows about 7.4 hours to do that clutch, at a dealer that will cost you about 600 just in labor and about 300-400 for the clucth kit (NEW disc, plate, and all req'd bearings). Add on fluid for the trans and incidentals and it will be expensive.A good independant shop, maybe even one that specializes in these cars would be less expensive.I dont suggest this as a DIY project, at 7.4 hours it is alot of work and will require hangers for the engine so the front sub-frame can be removed.
