1995 Eclipse 2nd gear?

2nd gear goes in but when I let off the clutch, its not in and grinds a lil, feels like the gear is farther back then the stick will let me go. 95 eclipse

Check the gear shift cables for wear and excessive slack.

There is only one cable that I see. Looks like I can't adjust it. Its right on top of the granny and moves when you move the stick. Can't see anything to adjust it.

For manual trans, there should be 2 cables. IThey are not adjustable. Ensure the bushes are not worn. You need to check the end at the gear shift as well.

Get a helper to move the gear shift and note if there are any excessive movement before the lever moves.

Looking at the pic I posted the top bar and cable has play. But the car is in neutral. Plus the end with the bushing slides off real easy.

If you look carefully, you would notice that the protruding center piece has a hole across it. A washer and lock pin is missing allowing it to come.
