Computer problem
2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse 6 cyl Manual

I HAVE 2003 ECLIPSE 3.0 MANUAL TRANS. THE CAR SAT 3 WEEKS WITH THE REAR END JACKED UP AND THE CAR FACING UP HILL. IT RAINED HEAVILY SEVERAL TIMES AND IT SEEMS LIKE THE SUNROOF? LEAKED BUT APPARENTLY THERE WAS A FAIRLY LARGE AMOUNT OF WATER ON THE PASSENGER FLOOR. NOW THE CAR WILL CRANK OVER BUT NOT START. IT DID START BUT ONLY RAN FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN MADE A WHIRRING NOISE AND SHUT OFF. IT CRANKS LIKE IT HAS NO COMPRESSION, I CHECKED AND THE FRONT BANK WAS LOW ACROSS THE BOARD- 60-80 PSI. I CHECKED THE TIMING BELT AND IT IS IN TIME AND OK. THEN MAJICLY THE CAR STARTED AFTER REASSEMBLY BUT HAD A SES LIGHT ON, CODES FOR CAM AND CRANK SENSORS. THE CODES RESET EVERY TIME THE CAR IS CRANKED AND WHEN IT DID RUN THEY BOTH RESET EVRY TIME. SO, MY QUESTION IS WHAT COULD MAKE THE CAR RUN THEN MAKE A WHIRRING NOISE AND LOSE COMPRESSION? THE VOLTAGES AT THE SENSORS ARE CORRECT AND THE OHM READING IS.6 OHMS. I CHECKED THE ECM, DOES NOT FEEL DAMP AND THE CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN AND DRY. WHAT AM I MISSING?

How many miles are on the timing belt? Why was the car jacked up?

THE CAR WAS JACKED UP SO THE REAR WHEELS COULD BE REFINISHED. THERE IS 235K ON THE CAR- TIMING BELT- WHO KNOWS. IT DOES HAVE SOME OBVIOUS WEAR BUT ALL OF THE TIMING MARKS LINE UP AND THE BELT IS TIGHT.

Your timing belt sounds like it is stretched. Eventhough the belt looks good, it is probably ready to break. 235000 miles, and not knowing the age of the belt, is a recipe for disaster. If the belt breaks it can cause catostrophic damage to the engine.
The computer can compensate for some stretch and wear in a timing belt, but only so much. In time a belt will stretch beyond the computers capibility to compensate. Being that the engine was not started in 3 weeks, gave the computer a chance to reset itself to the origional settings. This will cause the timing to be off. The engine may or may not run, depending how far the timing is off. The noise the engine makes and the low compression supports a stretched timing belt.
Low compression can also mean that the piston rings or the valve seals are bad, but you did not mention any smoke from the engine or any comsumption of oil.
