the speedometer doesnt work, where does the cable hook to the transmission or is there a fuse or something too?

Most likely the Vehicle Speed Sensor. It is located on the transmission.Is the check engine light on too? If so, have th ePCM scanned for the codes, this will probably tell you what is wrong with your car
