Hey, my problem is when starting the car. When it is cold it starts well, every time, but after I've driven it and parked up for a hour or two, and go to start it again it has a bit of trouble and I have to give it a bit of acceleration to get it going. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi Scythe13,

Thank you for the donation.

There are a few possible causes for such occurrences.

Does the Check Engine Lamp illuminates when engine is running?

What is the idling speed when engine is warm?

After it starts, does it stall when accelerator is released?

Hey, nope the check engine light does not come on. The idling speed is usually around 700rpm when warm, and yes occasionally if I don't keep the pedal pressed slightly it will cut out.

Cheers.

This seems to be a fault with the idling system.

Get the throttle body and Idle Control Solenoid cleaned and retest if the problem goes away.

Sorry I should just clarify that it will only cut out straight after I have tried to started it up while warm. Once it's running, it seems fine other than the idle speed seems low.

When the ISC or throttle body is irty, insufficient air would get past the throttle body resulting in the low idling. This can result in the engine stalling at initial start up as the ISC is slow to react.

Usually cleaning the components and readjusting the idling speed would resolve the problem.
