1988 mercury tracer mileage 244,2837 i was driving my car down the road and it just stop.and now it wont start it sounds like its going to but it wont i put in a new distrributor cap and rotor stillnothing pleas help iam a singal dad that really needs our car

My be best to have a shop troubleshoot it. Throwing parts at a car can get expensive and create a 2nd problem.

Did you replace the cap and rotor because you aren't getting spark?
