Sever shaking on acceleration

I have a 1996 Mercury Sable 95000 miles. The vehicle is smooth on acceleration untill it hits 40 mph then the front end shakes so bad you think its going to fall off. Tried new tires - new torision bar links. It does not shake at a steady 40 mph - and it stops around 55 on acceleration. It only does it on acceleration - no shake when slowing down - so I am sure it is not a bad rim. (Rims checked and OK) No clicking noise from the CV joints. Any ideas would be appreciated ( tired of feeling like a mike shake )

Guess all the auto experts out there are stumped. No answer from anyone except person with same type of trouble. Will let ya know if and when I get it fixed - Ford has no idea - even wrote them and they will not answer - some company.

Heck, I'll take a shot in the dark.
I would check your engine mounts on the bottom. I had a car once that had a bent "U" frame that supported the right lower engine mount. This let the engine sag and messed with the alignment of the drive shafts to the wheels. It only vibrated real bad when you accelerated. I guess the torque through it off just enuff to create a wobble effect.
Another option is a transmission problem. You might want to have a trans place check it out, and see if maybe that is what is causing the vibration under a certain load.

It was the inner CV joint. Right side (which is drive side). Outer CV joint was fine (reason there was no clicking sound). Now smooth as glass on acceleration.
