2002 Mercury Sable EGR backpressure sensor hose

The egr backpressure sensor hose melts from the heat of the exhaust. It got so hot that it melted one of the plastic connectors on the backpressure sensor.

Have you removed the EGR and cleaned the port all the way to the throttle plate yet? Now is a good time! I use a piece of steel coathangar. Then check the backpressure with a pressure gauge screwed into the 02 sensor hole, if it's more than 2psi, the converter could be clogging up...you will of course have to replace the DPFE and any melted hoses....
