Temp gauge has always read to the lower end of the scale even with a/c running on a 95 degree day. About 2 weeks back I had an a/c leak on the compressor which turned out to be an oring, I fixed that, but had to take off the heater hose to the water pump and the smaller of the 2 hoses that goes to the res tank. Now the low coolant light stays on and the temp gauge reads about half way up now.
The fans will come on when the a/c is running and it cools just like it always did. But with the a/c off, the fans dont come on. Only way temp goes down is by driving it.

The coolant temp sensor is conected. I checked the sensor on the tank. It is bad, well actually the float is no longer "floating". I disconnected the low coolant sensor on the tank, light on dash went off. Let car get up to temp with the cap off the tank to evac the air again. The temp needle is still going half way up and the fans are still not coming on. I turn on the a/c and the fans come on and the temp drops back to normal, or where its always run. What could be causeing the fans not to come on without the a/c on? Or am I reading too much into the temp gauge? Its read at the the bottom for 2 years, not half way up.
