1998 Mercury Sable egr flow,chged valve @sensor

emissions ..egr flow insufficent, changed valve,and sensor, have 12 vdc @sensor. check hoses for blockage-ok,have good suction with valve off, exhust tube seems clear, a mechnav described to me, one more part to check,but can't find this part.
it has two electrical connections and regular size vacuum hoses attached...time is running out. i have scanner to turn off but comes on after few miles. can i pass test w/light off?

Is it P0401? Pull the egr off, clean the port under it all the way to the throttle plate, I use a length of steel coathanger...put it all back together, reset the codes, if light comes on again, replace the EGR position sensor, thats the one the two small hoses from the exhaust plug into! The other part you are asking about would be the EGR solinoid? or EVR? It looks like this and is on top next to the position sensor...
