2005 Mercury Mountaineer gear shifter

My truck was stuck in park due to parking on a hill and hooking tow trailer up. Pulled it loose, now gear shifter is out of alignment, have to go below reverse or drive etc. To go in gear. How do you adjust that to be correct

The whole gear box will have to be looked at to check on any damage that could have been done while it was stationery on the hill.
It is always best to use some towing accessories to tow it to flat ground.

You may have bent the shift linkeage from this manueveur.

Have it checked at a trans shop for the damage
