2000 Mercury Mountaineer 4 wheel drive dash lighs

The 4-wheel high and 4-wheel low dash lights are blinking off and on periodocally, and neither of the dash indicator lights will illuminate when I put the switch to either 4X4 high or 4X4 low.

You have a fault in the system and diagnostic equipements are required to retrieve the trouble codes to understand what is happening.

Only with the trouble code would we be able to proceed with diagnostic.
