Grand Marquis 2000, 40,000 mi. Automatic IDOL AIR CONTROL VA

My car has been starting, but stalling before I put it in gear. I had it diagnosed and was told its the idol air control valve and it would cost 164.00 to fix. Is this reasonable? I'm female and know nothing about cars. Thanks!
