Hi,
My 1996 Merc Marquis has a misfire in #2 cylinder. I is mainly noted when shifting from park to drive, and also just after shifting into the other gears.

Hi:
First, does each cylender have its own coil pack? Also, when was the last tune up?

Thanks for the response. Problem solved. # 3 plug wire is defective. I replaced #2 wire with a used one and the problem ceased. I guess it is time for a new set!

Hi:
I recommend doing a general tune up. Replace the distributor cap, rotor, plug wires, plugs, fuel filter, and air filter if needed. If you haven't done it for some time, it would be a good preventative maintenance choice.
