1995 Mercury Marquis window will not go down

Starting this week, the driver side window was vibrating a lot and made a sort of thudding noise and went up and down with great difficulty; now it doesn't go up or down at all. Do I need a new window motor or a window regulator or what? Thanks.

Hello and thanks for donating

the best thing to do first would be to remove the door panel of the faulty door window so you can get a better view of things. It is most likely the regulator and cable that are at fault here. If it is you would be able to tell pretty quick upon inspection.
