my car all of a sudden the engine light came on and then it started sounded funny and it feels like there is a hesitation or a miss when I try and shift and its lagging in acceleration.

Hello

Since the engine light is on you need to retrieve the engine codes with a diagnostic scanner. This will help pinpoint the culprit without wasting money on parts that are not at fault.
