Engine Mechanical problem
1987 Mercedes Benz 190e 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive 150000 miles

Fuel issues!! 1987 190 E. If I pour gas into the carb it will start and run for about 10 seconds and then shut off. I am wondering if it could be the fuel pump or the relay and I do not know where either on of them are. is there a tell tale sign for either one malfuntioning. Thank you for your response in advance.

When you turn the key do you hear the fuel pump?

Try direct battery voltage to the fuel pump connector if it comes on-check the fuel pump relay and the fuse

The fuel pump relay is located in the engine compartment on right rear firewall-sorry no picture
