I have a 2001 Mazda Protege 1.6L with 136K miles on it. It started fine this morning but as I was pulling out of my parking space, the clock/radio died. Even the light that indicates a CD is in the player wasn't even on, (and yes there was a CD in it). I wasn't to surprised because I have been issues with my radio for a while, where it wouldn't change stations or turn on. However, as I was driving I used my windshield wipers and noticed they looked a little slow, so I tried them at all speeds, and they didn't increase any. No odd noises like motors whinning were heard at this time. Then as I get ready to pull out onto a major road I notice that the acceleration isn't quite what it is usually, a little slower. Then as I am driving the clock/radio flashes on and off a couple of times, my seatbelt light goes on (yea I was wearing my seatbelt). Then as I am approaching a stoplight (slowing down), the lights on my dashboard flash on and off a couple of times. I could tell that something wasn't right and my car was about to die, so I managed to pull into a parking lot and it died. Now it won't even turn over and I am not sure if the lights stay on when I turn the key to start. I am really hoping that this is a battery issue. Any ideas?
