HOW DOES THE COMPUTER OPERATE THE TRANSMISSION

I have a 1998 Mazda Protege 1.8 engine, 138,000 miles, automatic transmission. I recently had transmission problems-the mechanic replaced it with another transmission. Since then, the transmission does not change gears automatically in Dirve--you must manually change gears. The mechanic says that the computer does not control the transmission as it should--changed the computer--no luck. I spoke to another mechanic, he said that the computer must be programmed to operate the transmission. The original mechanic insists that the transmission he installed is good. I would appreciate any information on this.

We cant hear the fuel pump turn on: Does this mean cannot or you can.

If you cannot hear it, could be a voltage drop, the fuel pump relay or PCM

If you can hear it, check the fuel pressure, pressure ok. Check the injectors for pulse by listening for the clicking sound.

I have replaced the fuel pump cut out switch-meaning the inertia switch does it have power to it. It has to make it out of there to the pump
