1997 Mazda Miata clutch

I've owned this car for almost 7 years. Yesterday, my clutch apparently ran out of fluid. It went to the floor and I couldn't change gears. I pumped the clutch a couple of times and was able to limp home, basically double clutching all the way. When I checked the small fluid reservoir next to the firewall, it was nearly empty. (I never got a manual with this car I bought used, so I'm guessing this was the proper reservoir) I added the #3 DOT fluid it says to add on the cap, but I still have to double clutch to get the gear shift to work. Did I add fluid to the proper place? Do I have to bleed the system? Could it be a worse problem?

Hi there,

You have added the fluid to the correct reservoir, you will have a leak at the slave cylinder or the master cylinder, the leaking unit will have to be replaced and the system bleed of air.
