1989 Mazda 626 4 cyl

Hi guys, Today I spent 3 hours in traffic with a lot of stopping and starting. My clutch now is easy to push down to the floor and only engages in the last few cm close to the floor. It wasn't like this before. What could the problem be? Is the clutch shot?

The clutch master cylinder is located in the engine compartment right beside the brake master cylinder.
