The car reads code 13. My check engine light come on. I have the oxygen sensor unplugged. I am putting a new mass air flow sensor on it right now and plugging ever thing in and disconnecting the battery to re code it and then drive it. If the engine light comes on again, what could be wrong with the car?

Good question. They did not have "P" codes in 1986.

Okay, I found your code 13. Took a few minutes. It is Open Oxygen sensor circuit. Obviously from it being unplugged.

I hope the engine light goes out with a new mass air flow sensor but if it does not what could be wrong if the check engine line comes on? We will disconnect the battery to reset it. The car has 150,000, 00 miles, I bought the car new. It is a great car when it runs well, it is garage kept and I drive it everyday. I will make sure everything is plugged in. It started hesitating going up a hill. I maintenance this car every 3,000 miles oil changes, tire rotation, the works, this car is well taken care of and maintained.

Well your code 13 is your oxygen sensor. Not the mass air flow. Have you changed the fuel filter at all? Spark plugs? Any of those type things?

If the light comes back on, you will have to pull the code again and let us know what it is.

So you plugged the oxygen sensor back in and the code 13 came up? I am a bit confused as to where you are at with your diagnosis.
