I had a friend replace my low pressure fuel pump, and my car still won't start but it cranks over pretty good.

Hi,

Your vehicle needs 3 things to start, fuel, spark at the right time, and compression.

If the vehicle was running we can assume compression is okay unless when it stopped running due to some incident. If that is the case, please let me know what the detail was with this.

If that is okay, then we need to look at fuel and spark. Let's assume for now that it is not fuel due to a new fuel pump installed. That means we need to confirm you have spark.

Pull a spark plug and connect it back up and just hold it against the engine block and crank the engine to see if there plug is firing.

If it is firing then we can move onto fuel. If it is not then we can dig further into the ignition system.

Let me know what you find with this and we can go down that path. Thanks

I read your reply and I just passed the information along to the person working on my car, although I'm not with him right now. My spark plugs are pretty far under the engine. I'm not sure that they can get to those that check that spark without being at a professional shop. They're just working on it in parking lot, but my spark plugs are new less than a year old.

Okay. Sounds good. The plugs themselves may not be the issue. We just need to see if they are firing. If not, then the spark is not getting to them which would indicate another issue like a cranks sensor, PCM, or a coil.

Keep me posted with what they find and we can go from there. Thanks
