Received A/C off for engine protection message with high temperature gauge, loss of coolant and smoking. Replaced timing cover with gaskets in kit and water pump-still receiving message. Next replaced with a thicker/heavier oil this would be second lube oil change, same result. Next replaced oil filter and serpentine belt third lube oil change. Next replaced sensor/sender and an oil change again, same result. Looking for suggestions as the bill is getting pricey.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

If you replaced the oil pressure sensor, then we need to check if oil pressure is within spec. All you do is unscrew the oil pressure sensor and screw in a mechanical gauge. Most parts stores will lend / rent one to you. Once that is installed, start the engine and see how much pressure is there.

Here are the manufacturer's specs:

Lubrication System
Oil Pressure - @ 1850 RPM. 414 kPa (60 psi)

Now if you don't have that exact amount, don't panic. Let me know what you find. Also, let me know what the pressure is at idle and if the overheating problem is repaired. Note: I am assuming this is a 3.8L V6. If I am wrong, let me know.

Take care,

Joe
