Right front tire blew out yesterday morning only traveling about twenty five miles an hour I pulled right over. Now have loss of power steering service Advance trac light on. Has electronic power steering was wondering if there was a way to reset it? I hve been reading forms where people have done that. Car is perfectly maintained. 49,000 miles very hard to steer. Thank you for any help.

The way to reset the steering is too clear the codes and let the system relearn but I would runt he codes to see what they are first.

If it will not reset there is a problem with the EPS system. I would start by checking the fuses and lets go from there.

You might need someone to scan the BCM or steering control but this is worth a try.

Check out the diagrams (below).

Please run this test and get back to us.

Cheers, Ken

Call your local Ford dealer service dept. And give them your VIN number so they can look it up to see if it qualifies for the power steering recall.

Hi Morey,

Here is a description of your system. I would suggest with starting to see if there are any codes in the system. The reason is, you need to see if the power steering control module is offline. If it is, then this is an electrical issue or a module issue.

If not, it could be a mechanical problem but this system uses a mechanical (traditional) system that is controlled by a modern electrical control module. Basically, it can vary the power assist based on speed and driver inputs.

Let us know if you have any codes and we can go from there. Thanks
