When you give it gas it tries to bog down, it runs okay for a few minutes then loses power again. it has been sitting for about a year.

Yep, it sounds like a fuel pump is going out and you should drain the fuel and replace it with new. We can confirm the failure by doing a fuel pressure test. This guide can help, and you can rent a pressure gauge for cheap at the auto parts store.

Regulator pressure .................... 350 kPa (3.5 kg/sq.cm, 49.8 psi)
