I got into to my 2001 Lincoln LS V-6 with about 60,000 miles this morning and it started fine and it is currently running fine. However, my parking brake, ABS & traction control lights remain on. My speedometer is not functioning and when it does it is jumping, The odometer and trip odometer have slashes going across where the numbers should be and sometimes the numbers appear. I can't pop my trunk from inside or with the remote. I don't know if the latter has anything to do with it because I was unable to use the inside button for the trunk for about a month now. The remote trunk release was working up until this morning. I had the battery checked and was told the battery was fine. When we checked the alternator he said volts were fine but peak amps were at 30.1 and should be in the 80 range. Does this mean the alternator is going? Or is it something else? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes the alternator is dying. I would start there and see if it corrects the other problems.

good luck and let us know. :)
