I have a 2000 ES with 120,150 miles on it. I had the oil changed today at the Lexus dealership. I was told I also need the 120k service which is the same as the 60k service. I was given a handout on the 60k service. The cost for the service is $1550.62 What is really a "must" with the service? 1/2 of it seems to be routine inspection. The timing belt I understand. Also, what does timing belt replacement usually cost? I noticed another forum member posted the charge at their dealership for the 60k services was $600.

thanks in advance,

Dana

Ill try and find a estimate for a timing belt replacement, thats a expensive job.

For what they listed I woudl say thats a bit more then the average tune up and a reasonable price.

Check around for other quotes, you might find lower dependent on the service rate, a independent mechanic will be cheaper.

The service manager stated the timing belt and v belt would be $600. But he couldn't explain where the other $900 was.

600 for the timing belt parts and labor is a good price.

The other 900 is a bit high for what else they are doing, I would go no higher then 1000 at the most, 900 bucks for what they listed is quite high.
