This is not very good description is oil pressure low does noise sound like top or bottom, what engine is it? Have you tried shorting cylinders out by removing plug wire to see which cylinder?

Sorry it is my dads truck and he is not very descriptive. Just trying to help him. He was in the driveway and started it and the truck made a loud knocking noise and I asked where he thought it was coming from and he said the engine. He thought it could be bad gas because that has happened before but when trying to get to the gas station it shut off. He has not tried removing the plug wires but I will ask him to do so.

Hello,

It sounds like you may have an internal engine problem which can be found by doing a compression test. It could have a blown head gasket between two cylinders causing the problem.

Here is a guide to help us figure the problem out.

Please run this test and get back to us so we can continue helping you.

Cheers, Ken
