Hi, Ive been having a problem with my A/C unit, It started with the fan sucking garbage in and clogging the ducts. I cleaned it, and it worked fine for a few weeks, then it would blow cold air and then none at all, then white fog would come out of the vents. Finally stopped working, not the compressor does not engage. I took it to the mechanic, checked fuses and are ok. He jumped the compressor and works fine, freon levels are good, but when you turn the nobs on, the compressor still does not kick in, the "a/c experts" could not do anything to fix this and is annoying to drive in a heater box. I think the A/C temp sensor or thermostat is the problem cuz the evaporator is boiling hot, it feels like a stove on high, I dont know, any better ideas?

When the AC is jumped and the compressor runs, does it produce cold air? To me it sounds like a bad cycle switch that stuck on allowing the AC to freeze up and causing the problems you experienced.

Let me know.

KieroTakoBell, did you have any luck with your A/C? I have exact same car 2005 Kia Spectra 5, just this summer it's started acting weird, almost like the A/C is so cold it freezes or something, then the air stops coming out even though the fan is running. Have to turn off after 15-20 minutes then turn it back on then it works again. I haven't even gone to a mechanic yet and will need to soon, but this cycle switch concept sounds like something that could explain it. Let me know?
