Whenever I put the van into gear I hear a muffled grinding like noise. It makes this noise as long as the engine idles, it appears to go away as soon as I accelerate and reach speed, but returns if engine idles again. This happens until the engine warms up at which point it stops.

HI there,

A noise like this is something that you have to hear to be able to trace, if it is only when the van is in gear, you would tend to think that it is a transmission issue, i would get a mechanic to listen to this one first, as it will make it a lot easer to diagnose.
