Hard Shifting

2001 KIA Optima 2.5 liter

When car is shifting between 2nd and 3rd and/or 3rd and 4th it will hestiate or stay at same RPM and then lurch into the gear with a klunk sound - sorry for the descriptive words or lack thereof.

Had this repaired about a year ago 43,000 miles. I feel same problem again at 56,000 miles.

First repair was replacement of input shaft speed sensor. DTC P0715 code found.

This time they've recommended to reprogram TCM stating only "verified concern" - no codes listed or really what they did to "verify concern." The warranty company will not cover reprogram of TCM.

Any advice on further steps or maybe an explanation of what reprogram TCM entails?

Thanks for any help!

Any advice?

I have repaired a few KIA trans problems that were simply poor connections at the TCM. Have aall the connections checked at the trans plug and the TCM plug before having anything else done...... good luck
