Sirs-

I am in the military stationed in Germany and car repair is very expensive, hope you can help. My wife filled up her car w/gas and the next day we were driving and the engine light came on and the car began to shudder. I drove it home fine but it continues to shudder and blow white smoke out the exhaust that reeks of gas. There is no water in the oil and the car does not over heat. It idles fine and only studders when I step on the gas. Thoughts.

The white smoke usually indicates coolant is making its way into the combustion chamber and burning. The gas smell could be the result of the fuel not fully burning as a result. Are you able to get a compression tester to check engine compression?
