Hi Joe,

Car is still running smoothly, no further shimmies so I sure appreciate your assistance in getting this problem solved.

Now, a new question. My keyless entry stopped working. I press the combination and nothing. Can this be repaired, or does it just require a new one?

If it can be repaired and suggestions on what to tell them to look for would be appreciated.

Hope you and your family had a great Christmas and I wish you all a very Happy New Year!

Thanks,

Thomas

Hi,

Anything can be fixed; we need to do it by spending the least amount of money as possible. LOL

Have you tried resetting the combination? The directions should be listed in the owner's manual.

If that doesn't work, what they need to do is scan the can-bus. CAN stands for controller area network. This type of scan will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing the codes.

Since there is a keyless entry module, this type of scan will identify where the issue is coming from.

Here is a link that explains how it's done:

Let me know if this helps or what I can do to help.

Take care of yourself and have a great new year. It was nice to hear from you again.

Joe

Appears I can't use a scanner on my car since it is pre 1996 or am I wrong about that?

Hi,

The vehicle should have an OBD2 system. They should have all changed by 1995. Do you have a connector under the dash? Can you get a pic of it and upload it for me to see?

Let me know.
