The key fob to my vehicle will not work after I've had my vehicle sitting. The key fob itself does work but only when I unlock my driver side door manually with the key and open the door, I then can use the key fob to open the passenger side doors. I have already changed out the battery on the remote but it is not the issue.

Hi,

This sounds like the Body Control Module may not be sending the signal to the driver door unlock relay to unlock the door. Then when you use the key the module wakes up and works for the passenger side.

What happens if you press the unlock button two times on the fob within 5 seconds of the first time. Does the passenger door unlock? If not, I suspect the BCM is not waking up as stated earlier.

What happens is these module will actually go to sleep or inactive and they require a wake up signal in order to start functioning. The FOB will actually provides this when the signal gets picked up by the remote control door lock receiver. It then wakes up the BCM to unlock the doors. If the key is not the issue because the battery is new then we need to find out if the RCDLR is receiving the signal from the key. This is down with a scan tool. You will need to monitor the module to see if it is waking up the BCM. Unfortunately, a code reader will not do this so if you don't have a scan tool then we will need to take it to a shop that can look at it.

Let me know if you have questions. Thanks
