Crankshaft Sensor replacement instructions?

The issue with my jeep is I will be driving down the road and it will be running great. All of a sudden the TAC jumps all over the place and it acts like it is cutting out. I was told it is a crank sensor. I do not have any check engine lights. It is like (using an older car for example) putting your hand over a carburetor and it would cut all of the oxygen and choke out. It will do this going down the road. I am having a new mechanic look at it on Thursday I just want to know where I should be looking to know I'm not getting "screwed" so to speak.

Hello,

Typically an engine will stall for a faulty crank sensor. Because a crankshaft position sensor is related to engine speed when they fail it may not trigger a CEL light. So it is not unusual for your vehicle not to give a trouble code.
