When sitting at idle, the engine sounds like a sewing machine running. It has a slight tick, tick, tick to it. Increase the idle slightly and the sound goes away. I've heard several possible causes from timing chain adjustment to broken rod. Please let me know what is the most likely cause.
Thanks.

Try adjusting the valve lash-that don't cut it change out the lifters and camshaft their partners in crime with the valve train-also might want to do an oil pressure check, might be a weak oil pump and the oil is bearly making it to the valve train area due to clogging/sludge-Do an engine flush for a start and see what happens make sure you use the correct oil vicosity for your engine-
