how do i get the air bag light to go off without going to the dealer

Do you know why the light is on? If there is a bad sensor, even if you shut the light, it will come back on. Try this. Take the car to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer for codes. Perhaps that will identify where the problem is coming from.
