Carter BBD Carb

I'm a relative novice at working on engines. I've done small things like changing the cap and rotor, changing the valve cover, etc.

I pickd up a carb rebuild kit from my local auto shop. Is this something I should do myself, or is this a job best left to experts? Also, is this a 2-hour job, or more of a work-all-weekend job?

Any help you can give would be much appreciated!

If you don't own the tool to do the job. And have never done one, you can try. But you might not like the results.A rebuilt carb at rock auto online is between 100.00-200.00 and might save the extra work of doing it twice. First you need to dismantle it completely, soak the main parts in solvent for up to 8 hours to remove the varnish, and that's in a tank built for the job! It vibrates the parts. Then they are cleaned and jets and venturii are cleaned.
