What smell is it? If it is a musty, moldy smell, it is the fungal growth on the evaporator core and it is normal. Use of a anti-fungal agent or a deodorant will help to mask the smell, I use Listerine, the old yellow stuff without sweetener in it. Just spray it in the air intakes and your car will have fresh breath again.
