Engine Performance problem
2001 Jeep Cherokee 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 100K miles

2001 Jeep Cherokee sport. High mileage 100 K, new plugs, new IACV(does not mean it is good) but no trouble codes.

Engine dies at stops. Runs fine in all other areas, good power just dies at stops. So I run around town with my foot on the gas keeping the idle up and it goes well. Last night I wrapped a piece of sheet metal around the throttle bracket that rests on the non adjustable stud on the throttle body. If I could adjust the idle with a screw all would be cool.

Is something missing, the little stud has threads but you would play heck accessing a screw as there is like 1.4 inch between the throttle body bracket and the manifold.

So what is up, can I adjust the idle, or do I need to change something, no trouble codes and none show up on the test meter.

Not a total dummy but this one is aggravating. I may patent my sheet metal fix, Mcgiver strikes again in the time of need. Lol!

Maybe this will help you, There was no check engine light on, in the "Evil Lady's" rig, when this was occuring.

The "orange" "Tractor" is how I searched for the post, .......in "search"

Usually on these computer rigs ---they are set to a SPECIFIC BASE IDLE....sensors "sense" this---any adjustment throws the entire system out of calibration

Respond if this helps!
