I was told I had a cracked transfer case. What does this mean and what do I do? It hasn't shown up in the driving of the vehicle.

Hi there,

I would be thinking that the transfer case itself is cracked and leaking oil, if this is the case you can run out of oil or the crack can develop and you may suffer internal mechanical damage, I would have this investigated further.

If your transfer case is cracked enough youll see it leaking.( Its in the middle of your rear axel(the "round thing")) put a pice of card board under it so you can tell eaiser. If it is leaking, you should fix it quick, you can buy just the half thats cracked. You will need a car lift and help. You can get a haynes manual from a auto parts store that will give you a step by step guide. Hope that helps
