Ok, The jeep runs good but I have some slip in the transmission. When I let off the accelerator and then go back down on the accelerator, there is some slippage denoted by the higher rpms for a second and then it grabs.I dont think that this is common and think that I need to tighten the drive bands slightly to alleviate this problem. My question is how to adjust the drive bands from the outside of the transmission and to what extent? Thankyou very much in advance for some info on this subject.I do not want to damage the transmission as I sometimes pull a load. Mike Levine.

Okay, the 4.0L cherokee classic uses tranny model AW-4. The AW-4 transmission happens to be the model that does not have adjustable bands. If slippage is occuring then the bands must be replaced.
