Hello,
It sounds like you have an issue with the crank position sensor.
Over time with heat and vibration for the engine the crank sensor can loose its internal calibration. When a crank sensor goes bad it will send in correct data to the ECM. That could trigger a engine shout down.
The crank sensor is located on the transmission housing right where the engine meets the transmission (see diagram).
Some times when you have a faulty crank sensor it will turn on the check engine light.
Is your check engine light illuminated?
