My 94 Cherokee Sport 4X4 4.0L 6Cyl -Recently, my Check Engine Light came on, and stays on all the time.

Using the "ignition method" my trouble codes have me stumped, as according to all 3 of my Jeep Repair & Bible manuals, the codes I am getting DO NOT EXIST!

I get two codes - 36 & 39

The engine still runs strong, accelerates good, and has lots of power. My gas mileage may be low, as
I'm getting less than 240 miles on a full tank.

My injectors are clean and do not sputter or miss, and my air filter, oil filter, trans filter have all been recently changed.

I'm thinking that it could be my TPS or 02 Sensor, or possibly the EGR sensor. None of these match the
trouble codes though.

I will purchase an OBD for the older connector, and do the check again to be absolutely positive.

I'll try the "FREE" answer first, then.

Any Suggestions.

See my profile, Imma CJ GUY

I bought 2 code books when my Dad's car was killing me!

I do not know your rig.I too, cannot find your codes in the Code Manuals

So we Have a Check Engine Light On!

This may be good!

If you take your rig to Autozone or to Advance Auto,

They will "CODE" you for FREE! (With the C.E. Light on)

Their Cash register/ computer system is set up,

To spit out your codes and, get this. Will show the sensor (etc.) Needed to repair your problem!

.(Maybe they cannot help with "Oddball" Stuff)

GOOD LUCK!

Let me know what you find out.

I hope this is the route, you haven't tried yet.
