Help! I have a '94 Cherokee Sport 5 Sp/4 L that won't start. No symptoms (always started), just went out to drive home from work one night and nothing but accessory lights, buzzer when key was in ignition, headlights but would not turn over and start. It didn't click, I checked the starter and it's good, battery's good, I'm lost.

Unfortunately my tabs have now expired and in order to get them I need to get an emissions test but can't get there to do it.I'm in danger of being towed and want to do what I can myself but am working with limited mechanical knowledge. Someone has suggested the fusible link-anyone have an idea where to look and/or any other ideas? I am, as I said, lost.

Much obliged for any ideas or help!

L.

Does the engine cranks over and refuses to start or won't even crank at all.

Hey,

Thanks for responding. It won't crank at all and there's no clicking either, although it buzzes when I put the key in as usual. As I said, no symptoms leading up to this and it had been parked all day when I tried to start it. Lots of folks have suggested looking at the battery cables (they're fine) and checking for corrosion (none).

Electrical stuff scares me based on horror stories I've heard about pricey fixes. I've tried the obvious and worked backward, but nothing is working so far.

What are you thinking about this at this point?

Thanks
L.

Lets start here, have helper hold key in start position find the starter and bang on it -if it kicks over -replace the starter-if not check for power at the starter solenoid light green and black wire or brown-No power check the starter relay, fuse no.10 40amp in power distribution box and Park/Neutral switch

I will give your suggestion a try. Appreciate the input. I'm off to find a helper and will let you know (probably not today, however).

Much obliged!
